In a place where
everything is supposed to stay the same; everything seems to have
changed. Generally, I like change. I think it is good to shake
things up. Make things a little different. I’ve been hangin’ out
in Cape May for fifteen summers. I have come to know that every
summer is different than the one before. But, I can’t believe how
crazy different this summer has been.
We’ve seen the Boiler Room morph into a smaller version of what
Carney’s used to be. Now, only the shoebees seem to go to
Carney’s. I stopped in the past two weekends and Ron and Mycle
weren’t in their corner. What’s up with that? Things have changed.
I think they might have been baby sitting. Whatever.
Only two things have been catching my interest all summer. First,
the club at Martini Beach feels like the Boiler Room last year.
The music is good. The customers are colorful and urban. Actually,
the customers are “Metrosexual”. The tapas are excellent and the
service is cute if not efficient.
The other thing that has been some fun is watching Tony play
around. At least he’s having fun and picking up some polish this
summer.
It was great to see Wanda this past weekend. But, check this
out: no cops. Wanda with no cops around. What’s up with that?
Change.
The Hawaiian Tropic Bikini Contests have been the highlights of
each week. Our local girls have done great, once again. Mariel won
the first week and that polish girl came in second last week. The
DJ sucked, but I hear that Marcello and his caustic humor will be
back this weekend. At least something will be the same.
Two special treats this week in Cape May. The International
Lifeguard Championships are being held here. Suddenly the view has
changed for the better. Who cares who wins? I just want to watch
them sweat on the beach.
The second cool thing happening is that Jumper will be playing at
Carney’s on Saturday night. That Jeanine is just the best thing
since ecstasy was made into tablets. All the baby makers need to
get sitters and go see her. Don’t even think about asking Ron and
Mycle. I am sure they will be in their corner for this weekend.
Michael and Mary Ellen tie the knot this weekend. That’s a good
change.
Finally, there’s a little hope for the future. The twins are coming
in just a few weeks.
